My vision for Bastrop County

My vision for the Clerk's office if elected probably does not vary much from other candidates. We are all going to say we want the same thing for Bastrop. Important to all of us is the efficient flow, the best service for residents and accessibility. What sets me apart in my vision is my most recent experience in office, serving the people, answering the phones, and talking daily to community members, legal assistants and attorneys. I come with some great ideas for what procedures and policies do work and the ones which need modernizing. Procedures and policies should continuously evolve to keep up with legislative changes and the growth of Bastrop.

Top priorities and previous improvements

  • Providing support for deputy clerks including new hire training, continued education, being present and communicating changes.
  • Updated  public resources,
  • Improved website for easy navigation
  • Collaboration and unity with all county departments
  • Create attorney access to cases
  • Implement and train staff on re:SearchTX for case notices for attorneys and parties to reduce missed hearings and notices.
  • Improve Passport Acceptance to reduce the several week wait for appointments.

Impact on Bastrop county

During my time at as Deputy District Clerk for Bastrop County I advocated for service improvements. Streamlining services, reducing turn around time on document preparation, reducing postage and improving deputy clerk's efficiency.

  • Created and implemented electronic clerk certification for generating electronic citations for service eliminating the need for process servers and attorneys having to physically pick up documents and reduced the cost of mailing citations to offices requesting.

  • Actively involved in the roll out and utilization of Jury Management Software, a Tyler Technology platform to simplify the process and reduce cost, assisted in creating a user friendly instruction manual specific for Bastrop County. Improved the process for jury summons production in office.

  • Created a form template for communications and check offs  with entities for expunctions as well as appeals.

  • Advocated and worked with Bastrop County attorneys for paperless citations for Bastrop County tax foreclosure suits to improve efficiency, save paper, and improve turn around time.

Qualities I bring

I am a people person who enjoys connecting with others. I love a good conversation and believe in treating everyone with kindness and understanding- because we all need help sometimes. I have never met a stranger, one of the best things my Dad instilled in me is my ability to engage in conversation with anyone. We used to always say our father would talk to a rock if it stood there long enough, and I am thankful for him teaching me everyone has a story and you never know whose hand you are shaking.

This quality allows me to be a team player and strong leader who can effectively communicate and work together to achieve a common goal.  Being open to ideas from colleagues is a must, good ideas can come from anyone, so I value listening to others input and opinions.

I am a natural problem solver. I like approaching challenges with a solutions-oriented mindset. I focus on issues and developing practical solutions. If something is hard, I cannot just ignore it, I research and educate myself to work towards the best way forward.

I had the opportunity to take on leadership roles in the past as a business owner. Leading by example with integrity and respect, offering supportive solutions and simply treating others how I would like to be treated is my standards for being in charge.

A resident should not be intimidated by the Judicial system; we all deserve a system that is easy to navigate. When a resident retains an attorney, those attorneys are billing by the hour, the procedures of Bastrop county document filing should be clear to save the client money.   In regards to the criminal aspect, clear and concise record keeping allows the Bastrop District Attorney to prosecute criminals fully.  The office should be working for the people!
